See The Weirdest Wedding Cake Ever(photo)

Every couple dreams of having a killer wedding. These two set their sights on a killer wedding cake.

Texas newlyweds David and Natalie Sideserf decided to take the phrase “Till death do us part” to a whole new level by crafting a custom cake to give the line its due.

The result was a hyperrealistic cake depicting both of their heads, severed and bleeding on the floor. Their glazed-over, lifeless eyes stare both into the afterlife and at wedding attendees.

“It was perfect for us,” she said.

The guests, however, were a bit harder to win over. “I didn’t tell anybody about it, so it made it really interesting to see people’s reactions,” Natalie told ABC News. “Everybody was shocked and loved it.”

Nigerian man convicted of killing his 3yr old nephew for wetting bed

Ben Igbinedion, 43, has been found guilty of killing his 3 year old nephew, Daniel Evbuowman after they shared bed.

Ben, of Bromley, southeast London, reportedly assaulted the little child in the early hours of March 2, 2013, after discovering Daniel wet the bed he and his uncle were sharing. After the assault Igbinedion put the child in a different bed, but when other family members tried to wake Daniel in the morning, they found him unresponsive. Daniel was taken to a hospital where he died.

During his trial, the court heard that Daniel was put in the care of Igbinedion, who was also left in charge of his three children while his wife was at work. He told Daniel and his youngest son that they should sleep in his room, while his other two children sleep in their own room. One of Igbinedion’s children was woken by him telling off Daniel for wetting the bed, the jury was told.

A post-mortem found that Daniel died from major trauma to his ribs and pelvis, and established the injuries could not have been caused by a fall from a bed.

He was convicted yesterday November 7th for the little boy's murder

Igbinedion’s testimony of the events of that night were contradicted by the accounts his children gave to police.

Speaking after the guilty verdict, detective chief inspector Graeme Gwyn said: “Ben Igbinedion's violent actions resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy who had no chance of defending himself and devastated the lives of two families.

“Throughout the time since Daniel's death, Igbinedion has continued to deny any involvement. However, a jury has seen through his story and convicted him of murder.”
In a statement read to the court, Daniel’s mother Augustina Kunu said: “How do I describe the loss of my only child Daniel? Daniel’s death has left me empty, heartbroken, lonely, lost, devastated and confused.
“I cannot concentrate or focus on my studies, I am unable to sleep and when I am able I wake up in tears because I can no longer see him lying by my side. I cannot get over Daniel’s death because of the bond we had.”

She added: “He was a brilliant son, a friend, a star, a hero and a help-mate. He would look into my eyes and say, ‘Mummy how are you?’ His death has affected my marriage, leaving it empty because Daniel was our dream, the pride and crown of our marriage.
“His dad, Victor, has been left broken-hearted, confused, lonely and empty. This whole matter has pulled our family apart. My prayer is that God will restore peace to our families.”

Igbinedion will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on November 22.

Fresh: Wande Coal becomes a Glo ambassador

Wande Coal has joined other Nigerian celebs like M.I, Flavour, Naeto C, Waje, Burna Boy etc as a Glo ambassador. He signed his Glo deal just this morning November 8th. Big congrats to him.

ASUU STRIKE UPDATES: Asuu seek watertight deal from the FG-full story inside

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities have given the Federal Government certain conditions to be met before the union could call off its four-month old strike.

Part of this condition, Saturday PUNCH learnt, is that all federal parastatals in charge of fund, labour, and education must sign the agreement purportedly reached between its leadership and the Federal Government on Tuesday.

A prominent member of the union, who craved anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on behalf of the union, told Olofofo daily newsthat doing this would give the association the confidence that “the Federal Government knows what it is doing when it signed the agreement.”

He said, “I must tell you that our mandate remains. The only mandate we have is that 2009 agreement must be met. We have not reached any agreement with the Federal Government.

“Since the Federal Government  wants to be releasing N220bn every year for five years, then all monetary and regulatory agencies must sign. The  Central Bank of Nigeria, Ministries of Finance and Labour, National Assembly, Office of the Presidency, National Universities Commission, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Trade Union Congress and our umbrella body, the Nigeria Labour Congress, must sign with consequences stated.

“The reason we will ensure this is that we don’t want argument tomorrow that the agreement was entered in error or that they don’t know the implication of signing the agreement. If possible, documents that will provide for automatic deduction of the agreed money at a particular/agreed date must be provided.”

The leadership of the union had engaged in a 13-hour marathon meeting with  government delegation  led by President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja between Monday and Tuesday.

Though it was generally perceived that both ASUU and the Federal Government  achieved breakthrough in negotiation for the first time after the lengthy meeting with the President, Saturday PUNCH learnt that the lecturers might not be  in a hurry to go back to class.

Another  source close to ASUU who was also part of the marathon meeting  with the President in Abuja, said there was nothing new in what the President promised members of the union.

According to him, government had always failed in implementing agreements reached with ASUU. He said, “Truly the President sat down for more than 13 hours with us. He told us that we were not leaving the venue until the issues were resolved.  The Federal Government also promised to inject funds into the system, but a promissory note is not enough.

“Where would the money come from? There  is no assurance that government will provide money especially with the mop-up policy in place that ensures that unspent money is refunded to government’s coffers at the end of every year.’’

Asked when the lecturers would call off the strike, he said, “I doubt if the strike is ending soon.  The problem is with the Finance Minister. Where is government getting N1trn  from? A government that could not implement agreement between 2009 and 2013, what is the guarantee that they would honour this agreement.

“It is all politics.  We are still awaiting directives from our branches. We have told them the outcome of the meeting with the President but we are waiting for them to tell us what they think of government’s proposal.

“Imagine the Minister of Education has travelled out of the country. He was appointed Vice President for UNESCO General Assembly.  How can he travel out of the country without resolving the crisis in the education sector?’’

He said the Federal Government should spend the trillions of dollars in its Sovereign Wealth Fund to finance university education and improve infrastructure in the country.

A key component of the agreement reached by both ASUU and the Federal Government was that government would inject N1.1trn into public universities in the next five years. Government is expected to inject N220bn yearly into the public university sector beginning from 2014.  But government said it could only release N100bn this year, noting that the amount had already been processed.

The Federal Government also indicated that the N1.1trn would be domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria to show its commitment to the agreement. The money is expected to be released on quarterly basis to the universities so that there won’t be any problem about funding the deal.

The National Universities Commission and the Trade Union Congress will be the joint guarantors of the agreement while the Minister of Education will be the implementing officer. Government, according to sources at the meeting, also agreed to revamp public universities by ensuring that all the issues that always lead to strike are dealt with once and for all.

Asked to confirm if lecturers were planning to call off their strike, ASUU Chairman, University of Calabar branch, Dr. James Okpiliya, said the local chapter was yet to get formal briefing on the meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan.

He, however, said the union would make its position known to the press on the President’s offer after the end of a meeting scheduled for mid-night Thursday.

Also, Chairman of ASUU in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. Adegbola Akinola, said that members must be properly briefed on the resolution between the Federal Government and representatives of ASUU in the last marathon meeting.

He said the only condition that could make its members accept any offer would be the provision of necessary documents.

He said, “The NEC meeting may not hold now. It is the local congress that is expected to hold first which is either tomorrow or Monday.

“Our members are not yet briefed about the details, so it is when we meet that we will know the details and then discuss whether what we got is sufficient enough to justify our action or demand.

“I can’t really pre-empt the mind of other members. But if we are to accept any offer, there must be document to back that up. We need to obtain documents on that. Maybe if there is a document, people may look at it critically.”

However, the Federal Government said it would include the N1.1trn promised ASUU in the education budget starting from next year. It also said it was waiting for the union to know the next step to take.

The Director, Press and Public Relations of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Olu Lipide, told one of our correspondents on Thursday that government was waiting for ASUU to take the necessary steps.

Meanwhile, the Dean of Social Sciences, University of Lagos, Prof. Omololu Soyombo, has said that the general ASUU body must agree before the strike could be called off.

He said, “It is difficult to believe the President but we give him the benefit of doubt. We believe that the President is noble, the ASUU president promised to give him a feedback. If this had been done earlier, the strike wouldn’t have extended for so long.”

Corroborating his view, the Chairman, Lagos State University, ASUU, Dr. Jamiu Oluwatoki said, “It won’t be long again. By next week there should be a NEC meeting and subsequently the congress meetings before the president can call off the strike.”

DailyNews: Cbn defends naira with $18.7bn

The Central Bank of Nigeria has defended the naira with $18.7bn at the Wholesale Dutch Auction System between April and November 4 in a bid to save the currency, an investigation by our correspondent has shown.

Calculations from data obtained from the CBN website on Thursday showed that the bank offered $18.7bn to currency dealers in 59 auctions in the seven-month period.

The data showed that the central bank sold the highest amount of dollars in the month of July, offering $3.3bn, the highest in the year.

The CBN had in July hiked the cash reserve requirement for public sector deposits to 50 per cent from 12 per cent in a bid to tighten liquidity and shore up the value of the naira, but has failed to stem the currency’s decline.

Prior to that, in June, the naira declined 0.4 per cent to N159.45 per dollar, hitting the highest since September 24, 2012.

The data also showed that the bank offered to the public $2.8bn in the month of September, making it the second highest in the year, while it offered a total of $2.6bn in the month of October.

However, the CBN on October 2, replaced the WDAS with the Retail Dutch Auction System because of the ineffectiveness of the former in order to address hitches in the foreign exchange market.

The Head, Global Research Africa, Standard Chartered Group, Ms. Razia Khan, said the WDAS was abused because it allowed banks to collate bids for clients and make a single forex bid.

However, under the RDAS, banks will place bids for clients who qualify to buy forex at the official auction.

“This change will allow the authorities to monitor more accurately various sources of forex demand and any potential duplication of forex demand in the system. Banks will remain responsible for all documentation requirements,” she added.

Our correspondent gathered that the CBN had, in a couple of months back, resumed direct intervention by selling dollars to end-users in the market.

It was gathered that the regulator took the decision in order not to devalue the naira.

There had been speculations that the CBN would devalue the naira, thereby fuelling an excessive demand for the dollar.

A reliable source in the CBN had told our correspondent, “The CBN has resumed intervention by selling dollars to end-users. The bank has a dealing whereby it sells to the WDAS, but very rarely sells to end-users directly.

“If the market is tight, it can sell or buy from end users, but it is uncommon. The implication is to increase supply and make the naira appreciate.”

The CBN Governor, Mr. Lamido Sanusi, had said that he would do everything possible to defend the naira and ensure its stability, including using the nation’s foreign reserves to achieve the purpose.

He said after the last Monetary Policy Committee meeting in Abuja, “As far as the naira is concerned, we have always said we are committed to its stability. I have not heard any economic argument that there is any economic value in devaluing our currency. My view and that of the CBN is that if we need to tighten money, use some of our reserves to support the economy, we will. No central bank governor will say he will support the currency at all costs.

“But we want to be very clear that there is no country that allows its currency to just be determined by the market. We are not looking for a stronger currency; neither are we looking at a weaker one. People want to pay fees and investors want to know if they will have returns on investments.

“We will use the reserves, we will use interest rates, we have gone through difficult months; hopefully, the next few months will not be difficult. We will not allow the naira to be weakened and we are committed to that.”

We Officially Announce The Departure of Wande Coal From Mavin Records-Says'Mavin Records Management

mavin

After much speculation about the conflict between talented singer, Wande Coal and super-producer, Don Jazzy, details have finally emerged, albeit from the MAVIN camp on the reasons behind the bitter split.

The crack between the two parties was apparently opens wider after Wande Coal’s release of a track ‘BabyFace’ which Don Jazzy alleged was a stolen effort going ahead to make public his version of the same song.

This elicited a response from the former MAVIN artiste, Wande Coal who accused Don Jazzy of not supporting his ambition and wishing for his failure.

Wande Coal had pitched tent with Don Jazzy after the bitter split between latter and co-founder of the now defunct Mo’Hits music label, D’banj.

Read the full MAVIN statement of below:

“It is with deep regret that we officially announce the departure of recording artist Wande Ojosipe, popularly known as Wande Coal, from Mavin Records due to irreconcilable differences.

Over the past few months, Mavin Records has made a concerted move to
consolidate its position in the Nigerian music industry. Mavin has pursued a renewed ethos to raise its standards of quality and professionalism to a world-class level. Wande’s vision has not aligned with ours and a few months ago all parties mutually agreed that a separation would be the best course of action.

Legal parties on both sides have spent the past six months trying to reach an amicable solution in terms of musical property rights. However the decision by Wande Coal to release ‘Baby Face’ purportedly as his own material is a direct breach of intellectual property law and compelled an immediate clarification on our part.

Both Mavin Records and Wande Coal have enjoyed a remarkable run in the course of their working relationship. It is unfortunate that conflicting priorities contributed to the premature curtailment of a hitherto fruitful accord.

Mavin Records reaffirms its goal to constantly provide high quality music to our fans and introduce new and exciting talent into the industry.

We wish Wande Coal the best of luck in all his future endeavours.”

God!!!See the stab wound of Davido's bodyguard,After the incident of the club,Davido's guard was taken to hospital for care

You saw the tweets yesterday from people who said they witnessed the fight at the club early Monday morning...now Davido's camp have released pictures of his injured bodyguard, TJ, who was allegedly stabbed twice, in the neck and the hand, by the DJ of the club. They also released a press statement explaining what happened that day. Find the statement below and more photos of TJ after the cut...
The facts: DJ Jaydee of Grotto stabbed Davido's bodyguards, evades police
Falsified accounts of a recent incident at the Grotto club on Sunday have made the rounds. Davido’s Management hereby wishes to clear the air on them with the statement below.
After a successful outing at a recent concert on Sunday November 3 at Eko Hotels, popular musician Davido headed to the Grotto Nightclub on Victoria Island. After a brief stay at the club, Davido and his crew proceeded to his vehicle outside to head home. Upon entering the vehicle, he realized that his ATM card was missing. His body guard TijaniOlamilekanOgbeidebetter known as Teejay got down from the vehicle to search for the ATM card in the club.
Upon alighting, he was accosted by an already drunk ‘DJ Jide Jay Dee’who had in his hand a champagne flute. This DJ Jaydee informed Teejay that he had the ATM card in his hand and would like to personally deliver it to Davido. Teejay politely asked him to hand over the ATM card as it was clear that Davido was right in his view in his car. DJ Jaydee refused to hand over the card without payment and instead proceeded to shout that he knew who Davido was personally and that he [DJ Jaydee]was a known person in Lagos. Teejay refusd him access to Davido which led DJ Jaydee to throw the ATM card on the ground  in anger. As Teejay bent to retrieve the card, DJ Jaydee stabbed him in the neck with the champagne flute he was holding. An oblivious Teejay threw him off his back and proceeded to return the ATM card to Davido. As he was entering the car to leave, one of the occupants noticed the stab wounds and called his attention to the blood. Teejay promptly alighted from the car and went to confront DJ Jaydee who was still yelling outside.DjJaydee apparently not done with his violence stabbed the bodyguard a second time, this time on his hands and ran off into the club. Teejay searched for him to no avail and left the club soon after.

Tijani Olamilekan Ogbeide has since reported the matter to the police and they have been to the club to invite DJ Jaydee for questioning. Grotto has been unable to deliver DJ Jaydee to the police, instead malicious and falsified accounts of the incident have found their way on social media portals being championed of course by sources intent on casting vile aspersions on Davido  and his bodyguard Teejay. DjJaydee is yet to surface.Tijani Olamilekan Ogbeide has pressed charges to this effect.

Davido’s management categorically refutes all the allegations of violence as insinuated by some. Teejay was carrying out his job by restricting access to Davido from an unknown and obviously inebriated and violent individual. He performed his duties as bodyguard and instead of resorting to violence, followed the dictates of the law.Members of the public and fans should please note that Davido was not present at this unfortunate incident that occurred that night as erroneously reported in a few quarters.

Thank You

REVEALED: Tiwa Savage caused the war between Donjazzy and Wande Coal

There is a new twist to the Don Jazzy versus Wande Coal saga as new reports allege that Tiwa Savage, the first lady of Mavin records is the source of the whole trouble.

Some hours ago, Don Jazzy accused former label mate Wande Coal for allegedly stealing one of his songs titled ‘Baby face’.

According to reports, Tiwa and Don Jazzy were rejoicing over the positive responses from fans over the success of their recently released ‘Eminado’ video when suddenly wande released his own song and it instantly became a trending topic sweeping tiwas song into the rug, she then brought don jazzy’s attention to the released ‘Baby Face’ track.

A reliable source said, “Tiwa and Wande Coal haven’t always been friends, and she was the one that brought Don Jazzy’s attention to the baby face song. When Don Jazzy saw and heard the song, he was angry and had resolved to giving Wande Coal a call but Tiwa insisted that he should make it public.”

Tiwa allegedly said, “He can not continue to steal from you, he should at least be respectful enough to credit you, if you don’t do this, he will continue to steal your works, if you put it out on twitter, he’ll know you are serious. It’s wrong to always take people for granted.”

Meanwhile, Tiwa Savage is known for always attacking anyone who offends on twitter.

She recently attacked editors of TW on twitter for a publication rather than calling them privately to settle whatever misunderstanding they had…

ASUU STRIKE UPDATE:Asuu set to call off strike as they get a better deal of N1.1trillion

Details of the Monday/Tuesday marathon meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities have begun to emerge.

“The meeting should be the longest that we have ever had on this crisis but I can tell you that both parties were frank all through the discussions. “The parties also showed commitment towards ending the crisis. The President in particular showed that he was serious about ending the strike and that was why he offered to release over N1tn to the universities in the next five years.”

Punch gathered on Tuesday evening that a key component of the agreement reached by the parties was that the Federal Government would inject N1.1tn into public universities in the next five years.A reliable source, who made this known, also hinted that the strike would be called off anytime next week.

He said the government team which was led by President Goodluck Jonathan would release N220bn yearly into the sector beginning from 2014.The source added, “The money will be released on a yearly basis at N220bn per annum beginning from 2014. For the outgoing year, the government will only release N100bn and this has been processed.”

He said that the government, in order to show its commitment to a fresh pact, accepted that “the fund (N1.1tn) should domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria”“The money will be released on a quarterly basis to the universities. So, there won’t be any problem about funding the deal,” the source said.

The National Universities Commission and the Trade Union Congress, according to him, are  joint guarantors of the agreement while the Minister of Education will be the implementation officer. The source said that the government agreed among other things, to revamp the public universities by ensuring that all those issues that always led to strike were dealt with once and for all.It was learnt that the negotiating team of ASUU led by Dr. Nassir Faggae met on Tuesday to further deliberate on the deal.

We gathered  the ASUU team have reached an agreement to take the deal offered by Jonathan and that they will meet the larger ASUU caucus by weekend to agree and end the strike.
