The facts: DJ Jaydee of Grotto stabbed Davido's bodyguards, evades police
Falsified accounts of a recent incident at the Grotto club on Sunday have made the rounds. Davido’s Management hereby wishes to clear the air on them with the statement below.
Upon alighting, he was accosted by an already drunk ‘DJ Jide Jay Dee’who had in his hand a champagne flute. This DJ Jaydee informed Teejay that he had the ATM card in his hand and would like to personally deliver it to Davido. Teejay politely asked him to hand over the ATM card as it was clear that Davido was right in his view in his car. DJ Jaydee refused to hand over the card without payment and instead proceeded to shout that he knew who Davido was personally and that he [DJ Jaydee]was a known person in Lagos. Teejay refusd him access to Davido which led DJ Jaydee to throw the ATM card on the ground in anger. As Teejay bent to retrieve the card, DJ Jaydee stabbed him in the neck with the champagne flute he was holding. An oblivious Teejay threw him off his back and proceeded to return the ATM card to Davido. As he was entering the car to leave, one of the occupants noticed the stab wounds and called his attention to the blood. Teejay promptly alighted from the car and went to confront DJ Jaydee who was still yelling outside.DjJaydee apparently not done with his violence stabbed the bodyguard a second time, this time on his hands and ran off into the club. Teejay searched for him to no avail and left the club soon after. After a successful outing at a recent concert on Sunday November 3 at Eko Hotels, popular musician Davido headed to the Grotto Nightclub on Victoria Island. After a brief stay at the club, Davido and his crew proceeded to his vehicle outside to head home. Upon entering the vehicle, he realized that his ATM card was missing. His body guard TijaniOlamilekanOgbeidebetter known as Teejay got down from the vehicle to search for the ATM card in the club.
Some hours ago, Don Jazzy accused former label mate Wande Coal for allegedly stealing one of his songs titled ‘Baby face’.
According to reports, Tiwa and Don Jazzy were rejoicing over the positive responses from fans over the success of their recently released ‘Eminado’ video when suddenly wande released his own song and it instantly became a trending topic sweeping tiwas song into the rug, she then brought don jazzy’s attention to the released ‘Baby Face’ track.
A reliable source said, “Tiwa and Wande Coal haven’t always been friends, and she was the one that brought Don Jazzy’s attention to the baby face song. When Don Jazzy saw and heard the song, he was angry and had resolved to giving Wande Coal a call but Tiwa insisted that he should make it public.”
Tiwa allegedly said, “He can not continue to steal from you, he should at least be respectful enough to credit you, if you don’t do this, he will continue to steal your works, if you put it out on twitter, he’ll know you are serious. It’s wrong to always take people for granted.”
Meanwhile, Tiwa Savage is known for always attacking anyone who offends on twitter.
She recently attacked editors of TW on twitter for a publication rather than calling them privately to settle whatever misunderstanding they had…
“The meeting should be the longest that we have ever had on this crisis but I can tell you that both parties were frank all through the discussions. “The parties also showed commitment towards ending the crisis. The President in particular showed that he was serious about ending the strike and that was why he offered to release over N1tn to the universities in the next five years.”
Punch gathered on Tuesday evening that a key component of the agreement reached by the parties was that the Federal Government would inject N1.1tn into public universities in the next five years.A reliable source, who made this known, also hinted that the strike would be called off anytime next week.
He said the government team which was led by President Goodluck Jonathan would release N220bn yearly into the sector beginning from 2014.The source added, “The money will be released on a yearly basis at N220bn per annum beginning from 2014. For the outgoing year, the government will only release N100bn and this has been processed.”
He said that the government, in order to show its commitment to a fresh pact, accepted that “the fund (N1.1tn) should domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria”“The money will be released on a quarterly basis to the universities. So, there won’t be any problem about funding the deal,” the source said.
The National Universities Commission and the Trade Union Congress, according to him, are joint guarantors of the agreement while the Minister of Education will be the implementation officer. The source said that the government agreed among other things, to revamp the public universities by ensuring that all those issues that always led to strike were dealt with once and for all.It was learnt that the negotiating team of ASUU led by Dr. Nassir Faggae met on Tuesday to further deliberate on the deal.
We gathered the ASUU team have reached an agreement to take the deal offered by Jonathan and that they will meet the larger ASUU caucus by weekend to agree and end the strike.
It was gathered that the tanker was headed towards Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Eyewitnesses told our correspondents that the tanker fell when the driver, who was allegedly on top speed, sighted another car coming towards him. It was said that the tanker driver tried to avoid ramming into the car and subsequently fell.
One of the eyewitnesses, Mohammed Ogoja said, “The driver was trying to avoid a car that was coming towards his vehicle; in the process, the tanker swerve and the body fall on the road. The engine compartment of the tanker then got detached from the body.”
A police officer from Wawa police post, who craved anonymity because he was not permitted to talk to the press, confirmed this.
He explained that the accident occurred at 12.30pm, adding that since the tanker was laden with fuel, the content began to spill on the ground.
He said the body of the trailer got detached from the engine compartment, which made the driver to escape unhurt.
“There was no casualty recorded, because the head of the tanker was not involved in the accident,” the police officer added.
Our correspondents observed that the driver and the engine compartment had been moved to Ibafo Police Station. It was also noted that the body of the vehicle did not bear any number plate.
The police, men of the Federal Road Safety Corps and Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps were on hand to coordinate activities around the fallen tanker.
A large number of travellers and commuters were held up in the gridlock. Some of them who were heading for Wawa, Arepo, and Ayorinde resorted to trekking.
One of the commuters, Mrs. Lara Omotunde, said she trekked from the long bridge to Ayorinde Bus Stop.
She said, “The driver of the bus I boarded decided he was no longer going to Mowe. We had to alight from the bus on the long bridge because of the gridlock.”
It was also observed that due to the gridlock, many impatient motorists, mostly commercial drivers, began to drive against the traffic.
The motorists soon formed another lane and in the process, they completely halted traffic on the side.
Around 3.30pm, the tanker was removed from the road, while the road was opened to motorists.
It was a difficult task for the law enforcement agents to unlock the confusion created by the incident.
At a point, soldiers, who were also held in the gridlock had to move in and started controlling the traffic on both sides of the expressway.
Men of the Ogun State Fire Service were on hand to forestall any fire incidence as spilled fuel was all over the place.
